Red Cross volunteers respond to provide food and beverages in support of the firefighters and law enforcement personnel at the scene of the trestle fire on the Tommy Thompson Trail Thursday October 15th.

Additional volunteers from San Juan Island were called out due to concern that the creosote soaked pilings might prove to be a formidable challenge to the Fire Department resulting in a prolonged deployment.

The Red Cross Chapter solicited, and received, generous support from several local businesses including pizzas from The Pizza Factory, Clam Chowder from Bob's Chowder Bar and bottled water from Walgreen's.

With the help of these local businesses the Red Cross was able to meet the needs of the emergency service personnel on the scene.
