First Aid, CPR and AED Programs
The American Red Cross is the recognized premier provider of first aid, CPR, aquatics, water safety, HIV/AIDS education, mission related caregiving and other health and safety education programs. Since 1909, the American Red Cross has trained tens of millions of people in first aid and CPR,translating the consensus of medical science into practical, easy-to-understand information for the American Public. Today your Anacortes San Juan Islands Chapter offers a variety of first aid programs for different age groups and general, professional and workplace audiences, including Workplace Training, First Aid/CPR/AED Program, Community First Aid and Safety, Community CPR, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Sports Safety Training, Basic Aid Training for Children, Oxygen Administration, Emergency Response and,COMING SOON Wilderness Emergency Response. All programs emphasize the importance of prevention and reflect the most recent changes in cardiac care.

Aquatics
The American Red Cross has been a leader in aquatic education since 1914. Our aquatic programs are offered for all ages and skill levels with a focus on Learn to Swim and aquatic safety training through our local Fidalgo Pool and Fitness Center. Courses include the Lifeguarding Program, Learn to Swim Program (levels I to VII) and Community Water Safety.

Preventing Disease Transmission, Bloodborne Pathogen and HIV/AIDS Education
The Red Cross working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Washington State Dept. of health, educates people on how to stop the transmission of disease, the OSHA requirements for bloodborne pathogens and HIV, encourages people to respond in informed ways to people who have HIV and helps people apply the facts about disease transmission, and the pathogens of greatest concern to their own behavior. We also offer the training for professionals needing to meet the WA. State requirements for HIV/AIDS, Bloodborne Pathogens, and preventing disease transmission as well as the OSHA requirements for the work place.

Caregiving Programs
In keeping with current national health care needs, the American Red Cross and your local chapter also offers health promotion and injury prevention programs such as Choosing Quality Child Care, Babysitting, and six individual workplace safety modules identified by Labor and Industries as safety issues of greatest concern. Slips, Trips and Falls, Preventing Back Injuries, Ergonomics, Managing Stress, Workplace Violence, and Your Heart Matters.
