The new school year is approaching fast. Teachers surely are getting ready, bus drivers are getting ready, crossing guards are getting ready, administrative and support staffs will be ready, but what about the children?
Are they all going to be ready?
As a community, we have an opportunity and obligation to make sure that every child starts that first day of school equipped with the clothing, shoes, and supplies needed to be successful.
These material items help assure the most important tool of all, a positive attitude toward learning.
Caring For Kids, a program of the local American Red Cross, is holding its seventh Ready To Learn Fair, August 23rd. 10:00am till 2:00pm at the Anacortes Middle School. Our goal is that families needing assistance with outfitting their children for the new school year will have a warm, friendly place to pick up the needed items.
The Fair will include good used clothing, new clothing, shoes, school supplies, backpacks and more. Local hairdressers are donating their time to give free professional haircuts.
Today we are asking for your help.
The Caring For Kids program is available all year through the local Red Cross. Caring For Kids  personnel are all volunteers and donations go directly to support the children. Please consider a donation to our program. Working together in small ways, we are accomplishing great things for the children.
